PHO’s Toronto laboratory achieves LEED Gold certification

PHO is pleased to announce that our laboratory facility (and program support areas) at 661 University Avenue in Toronto has achieved LEED Gold certification for commercial interiors from the Canada Green Building Council. LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is recognized as the international mark of excellence for green building. The commercial interiors category certifies high performance green interiors that are healthy, productive places to work, are less costly to operate and maintain, and have a reduced environmental footprint.

The Toronto laboratory relocated to 661 University Avenue in 2014. The new laboratory is a highly specialized and flexible space designed to support an integrated approach to diagnostic, outbreak and incident management, and enable faster turnaround times for test results. The relocation strengthens PHO’s links to academic, health care and private sector partners, fostering more collaborative research, practice and knowledge exchange.
