Applied immunization research and evaluation is a cross-cutting Public Health Ontario scientific initiative to guide immunization programs, maximizing the synergies of inter-disciplinary research, in order to deliver innovative, policy-relevant, responsive and impactful evidence that leads to improved health for all Ontarians.

Why Applied Immunization Research and Evaluation?

New research questions

Rising numbers of vaccine products

Evidence-informed decision-making

Complexity of
 immunization schedules

Vision: To maximize the benefits of immunization for the people of Ontario through applied research and training.

  • We aim to be an internationally recognized centre of excellence in applied immunization research, evaluation and training.
  • We aim to maximize the health impacts of immunization through delivering, supporting and building capacity in research and evaluation throughout the public health system.
  • We aim to address challenges facing the immunization system such as the best evidence on how to promote confidence and achieve high coverage of immunization through research that includes vaccine safety and effectiveness.
