The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has funded 45 communities across Ontario to participate in the Healthy Kids Community Challenge (HKCC).

The HKCC has a focus on promoting healthy behaviours in children (0 to 12 years).

PHO contributes to the HKCC in four ways:

  1. Evaluating the process and impacts of the HKCC program, including at child, parent and community levels using various forms of data collection
  2. Hosting the Scientific Reference Committee and its Aboriginal Stream Scientific Subcommittee (six of the HKCC communities are funded through four Aboriginal Health Access Centres and two Community Health Centres)
  3. Contributing capacity building expertise as a member of the Healthy Kids Resource Centres.
  4. Providing evidence-based advice and support to our clients through the production of relevant knowledge products, such as infographics on key topic areas , technical reports, and scientific publications.

Be sure to bookmark this page and check back regularly for news and new tools and resources related to this project. You can also sign up for PHO email announcements to stay up-to-date on this and other work happening at PHO.
