This presentation will highlight key findings from Cancer Care Ontario’s recent report, Cancer Risk Factors in Ontario: Tobacco. The session will examine the prevalence and distribution of tobacco smoking, smoking cessation, and exposure to second-hand smoke among Ontario adults and youth as it relates to cancer. To inform prevention and control efforts, estimates of the impact of tobacco smoking on the burden of cancer in Ontario will be provided.

Presenter: Elisa Candido

Elisa Candido is an epidemiologist in the Prevention and Surveillance unit at Cancer Care Ontario. Her research interests include cancer and risk factor surveillance and chronic disease epidemiology. Most recently, she was the lead author on Cancer Care Ontario’s Cancer Risk Factors in Ontario: Evidence Summary report, which summarized the epidemiologic evidence for a wide range of cancer risk factors including tobacco.
