​​The JCYH program is a leader in the development of hand hygiene education within Canada, however other programs and individuals have contributed greatly to the field of hand hygiene.  This symposium will provide PHO with an opportunity to invite these “thought leaders” to share their insights with those within the healthcare field.  Speakers are being invited from the UK, U.S.A and Ontario.  Several of these speakers were present at the JCYH inaugural program symposium five years ago and as a result have history with the program and the regional stakeholders whom the program serves can identify with these renowned leaders in their respective fields.  As a result the speakers and the attendees will be able to contribute significantly to the dialogue of the JCYH symposium.

Learning objective:

  • To use the information and evidence gathered from the symposium speakers and participants to help improve the implementation and sustainability of the JCYH program
  • To review some of the successes of the JCYH program and the lessons learned
  • To increase the network of key stakeholders (practitioners, government and academics) at the provincial level and potentially at the national level, to access, share and disseminate the most current knowledge available on hand hygiene practices
  • To identify innovative strategies that impact hand hygiene practices
