The recent Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak in West Africa has increased the possibility of patients traveling from the impacted countries to Canada. The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and Public Health Ontario are holding a webinar for Ontario health workers and health sector employers on EVD. During this webinar, health workers and health sector employers will receive updates on the status of the outbreak in West Africa and guidance on what steps health organizations in Ontario can take to prepare for the possibility of caring for a patient with Ebola virus disease.
This webinar is targeted at Ontario health workers and health sector employers across the health system, including:
- hospitals, including emergency department staff, critical care unit staff, infection prevention & control staff, occupational health & safety staff
- public health units
- primary health care, including community health centres, Aboriginal Health Access Centres, Family Health Teams, Nurse Practitioner-led clinics
- pre-hospital settings
- other interested health system partners (e.g., Local Health Integration Networks; health system associations, unions, and regulatory bodies)
Dr. Graham Pollett is the Interim Chief Medical Officer of Health for the Province of Ontario.
Clint Shingler is the Acting Director for the Emergency Management Branch at the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
Dr. Brian Schwartz is Chief of Emergency Preparedness, and the Executive Lead of Service Integration at Public Health Ontario
Dr. Jonathan Gubbay is a medical microbiologist at Public Health Ontario.
Dr. Mary Vearncombe is a medical microbiologist, the Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and an infection prevention and control specialist at Public Health Ontario.
