PHO releases new interactive data report

How can static surveillance information be presented online to public health practitioners in an engaging and interactive way? How do you showcase at-a-glance information effectively and accurately in a way that’s visually appealing?

Public Health Ontario’s interactive Reportable Disease Trends in Ontario, 2015 report answers those questions by summarizing high-level statistical data and surveillance information for over 60 reportable diseases in Ontario. For the first time, these data are available in an interactive format that provides quick disease profiles that are easy to navigate: each disease has a unique landing page with additional descriptive epidemiology accessible through the click of a button.

For health practitioners and researchers involved in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of public health policy and practice in Ontario, the report is a useful resource to determine priority setting.

The information in both the interactive and PDF versions of the report can be used to identify diseases or disease-specific areas in which public health action may be required.

A summary of methods and data sources, as well as limitations and other considerations for data interpretation, is also available.

We welcome your feedback about the report and its findings. If you have any comments and/or suggestions, please contact us at
