Environmental and Occupational Health

Environmental health addresses the assessment and control of the physical, chemical, biological, social and behavioural factors in the environment that influence health and disease occurrence. Occupational health deals with evidence-based strategies that health and safety practitioners can use in protecting health care workers.

PHO provides scientific and technical advice and support on a variety of emerging and evolving public health issues.  This includes research, surveillance, environmental monitoring equipment and expertise, professional development, consultation and field support relating to environmental and occupational health.

Instrument Loan Program


PHO offers indoor and outdoor air sampling instruments for temporary loan to public health units in Ontario. A variety of instruments are available and you may consult PHO's EOH team on your investigations.

The OEH Seminar Series
