Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC)

Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) refers to those evidence-based practices and procedures that, when applied consistently in health care settings, can prevent or reduce the risk of transmission of microorganisms to health care providers, other clients/patients/residents and visitors.

Clostridium difficile Infection (CDI)Case Scenarios


The CDI case scenarios provide an opportunity for learners to enhance their understanding of CDI surveillance and outbreak management and apply knowledge to complex CDI situations in daily practice.


Announcement: CPE voluntary surveillance program discontinued

The CPE voluntary surveillance program has been discontinued, as CPE is now reportable. The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care updated the Health Protection and Promotion Act (HPPA) and its regulations for reporting Diseases Of Public Health Significance (DOPHS) to include CPE colonization and infection, effective May 1, 2018. For guidance on reporting CPE, please contact your local public health unit.
