Public Health Ontario has been working with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the Public Health Agency of Canada and other partners on monitoring and assessing the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV). For more information, please refer to the following links:

For health care workers in acute care settings, this tool will assist in the identification and immediate management of patients who present with severe acute respiratory infection that may be due to MERS-CoV.

Note: This document was revised in July 2015 to include current information on countries affected by MERS-CoV, travel history and specimens for testing at the Public Health Ontario Laboratory.
