The Locally-Driven Collaborative Project ‘Building Evaluation Capacity in Ontario’s Public Health Units’ seeks to help Ontario public health units determine the best way to build evaluation capacity. In the first year of the project (February 2014-January 2015), we established the current evaluation capacity of 32 out of 36 health units and looked into the literature to determine effective evaluation capacity building strategies. In this presentation, we will discuss the methods, results, conclusions and recommendations of this work. In 2016-2017, we will be continuing our research into how to best help public health units develop strong and vibrant evaluation systems.
