Environmental Outbreak Investigation of Legionella
A practical presentation that will provide public health professionals with a basic understanding on how to carry out the environmental aspects of a legionella outbreak investigation. Topics covered will include: an overview of Legionnaires’ disease, factors influencing the survival and growth of legionella, identifying potential sources, conducting a risk assessment, environmental sampling, interpreting the results and remediation methods.
Presenter: Dru Sahai
Dru Sahai has a master’s degree in Occupational Health Sciences and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health; he is a Certified Public Health Inspector as well as a Registered Occupational Hygienist and a Canadian Registered Safety Professional. He has over 25 years of experience as an occupational hygienist. Dru joined PHO’s Environmental and Occupational Health as an Environmental Science Specialist nearly 8 years ago.
