This presentation will highlight key findings from Cancer Care Ontario’s recent report, Cancer Risk Factors in Ontario: Healthy Weights, Healthy Eating and Active Living. The session will examine the prevalence and distribution among Ontario adults of obesity and overweight, aspects of diet, and active living as they relate to cancer. To inform prevention and control efforts, estimates of the impact of excess body weight on the burden of cancer in Ontario will be provided.

Presenter: Naomi Schwartz

Naomi Schwartz is a Research Associate and epidemiologist in the Population Health and Prevention unit at Cancer Care Ontario. She completed her Master of Public Health degree in epidemiology at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. She is the lead author on Cancer Risk Factors in Ontario: Healthy Weights, Healthy Eating and Active Living report and has worked on other projects related to chronic and infectious disease surveillance.

Public Health Ontario Rounds are approved for continuing medical education from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.
PHO Rounds are also approved by Council of Professional Experience for professional development hours (PDHs) for members of the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI).
