Data on the health status of prisoners in Canada are not readily available. In this presentation, Dr. Kouyoumdjian will discuss the jurisdictional issues related to the administration of correctional institutions and the implications for health care and disease prevention. She will present the findings of her recent research on the health status of prisoners in Canada.  Based on her research and clinical work, she will identify opportunities to improve the population health of prisoners.

Presenter: Fiona Kouyoumdjian

Fiona Kouyoumdjian, MD MPH PhD CCFP FRCPC, is a Public Health and Preventive Medicine Physician, Family Physician, and Epidemiologist. She recently completed a CIHR Fellowship at the Centre for Research on Inner City Health at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. Dr. Kouyoumdjian's research focuses on describing and improving the health of people who experience incarceration in Canada.
