PHO Webinar: Applying Resident and Family-Centred IPAC Principles in the Hospice Setting

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the integral role of infection prevention and control (IPAC) in the provision of care across all health care settings, including residential hospice settings. These facilities provide respectful compassionate care. At times, applying IPAC principles and best practices in an effective way may feel challenging in these environments. This session will discuss how IPAC principles can be applied to maintain the focus of care on the resident and their families and friends, while embracing the unique care environment within hospice settings.

Intended audience: Hospice Administrators and Staff, IPAC Professionals, Public Health Professionals.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe four key IPAC measures essential for the direct care environment in hospice settings.
  2. Discuss how policy development, education and training can support the implementation of IPAC measures.
  3. Examine how the built environment/infrastructure may support or hinder IPAC measures.
