About the symposium:
The 4th Vaccine Sciences Symposium will be held on November 15, 2017 in Toronto, Ontario. The Symposium will bring together health professionals interested in immunization to:
- examine current and emerging immunization research
- share diverse perspectives on scientific questions and spark debate
- develop and strengthen connections with colleagues across Ontario
The target audience includes public health and infectious disease physicians, public health nurses, epidemiologists, and researchers with an interest in vaccine preventable diseases (VPDs) and immunization.
About the keynote speaker:
We are excited to have Dr. William Moss as our keynote speaker this year. Dr. Moss is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. A pediatrician by practice, Dr. Moss has worked around the world researching the epidemiology and control of childhood infections in resource-poor countries. His keynote presentation will explore the vaccination of HIV-infected children.
Student call for abstracts:
We are now accepting student abstracts for oral presentations for the Symposium.
This year, the student sessions will feature presentations that are three minutes in length, followed by an informal question and answer period. Presentations should cover new programmatic and/or scientific research and knowledge exchange activities relating to:
- the epidemiology of VPDs;
- vaccine safety; or
- immunization program evaluations
