PHO Webinar: Applying Trauma-Informed Care to Intimate Partner Violence
Trauma-informed care (TIC) is understood with wide variability, as is its application in health care settings. Using case examples, this presentation demonstrates how to apply the principles of TIC during clinical encounters with patients either disclosing or at risk of intimate partner violence.
Présentateur(s): Dr. Annie Lewis-O’Connor
Dr. Annie Lewis-O’Connor PhD, NP-BC, MPH, FAAN is a Pediatric and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She is the Founder and Director of a trauma & strength informed clinic at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where she also is the Director of Research & Innovation and Global Nursing for the Center of Nursing Excellence. She is an Instructor at Harvard Medical School. Annie addresses trauma, violence and abuse from four pillars: Research, Policy, Education, and Clinical practice. Her current research explores the feasibility, acceptability and impact of trauma-informed care plans in healthcare software system, EPIC, from the perspective of patients and clinicians. She received her Master’s in nursing from Simmons College in Boston, a Master’s in Public Health from Boston University and her PhD from Boston College.

PHO Grand Rounds are also approved by the Council of Professional Experience for professional development hours (PDHs) for members of the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI).
