PHO is an exciting and dynamic environment that is extremely rewarding. As a Clinical Microbiologist at PHO, I am able to work with multidisciplinary teams that together provide sound scientific and technical advice to protect the health of Ontarians. This includes performing research that can lead to improved diagnostic laboratory testing for infectious agents and monitoring of their activity in Ontario.

PHO Research Interests

  • Use of next-generation sequencing and other molecular methods to detect, characterize and survey pathogens of public health significance
  • Diagnostic laboratory testing for arthropod-borne viruses
  • Detection of antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, assessment of current trends in antimicrobial resistance and new approaches for antimicrobial susceptibility testing of bacterial pathogens
