These broad health status indicators provide an important measure of overall population health.

Our data products provide access to statistics and information related to mortality and overall health such as all-cause mortality, potentially avoidable mortality, self-reported health and mental health, and life stress.

All-Cause Mortality

Indicators include all-cause mortality, premature mortality, child mortality, infant mortality and neonatal mortality.

PHU data from 2014 to 2023.

Potentially Avoidable Mortality

Provides rates of health status across five quintiles of marginalization as defined by the Ontario Marginalization Index (ON-Marg).

Potential Years of Life Lost

Potential years of life lost from avoidable, preventable and treatable causes including cancers, cardiovascular disease, injuries and respiratory diseases.

Overall Health

Indicators include self-reported perceived health, perceived mental health, life satisfaction and perceived life stress.

PHO Rounds: Indigenous Measurement Based Care: The Aaniish Naa Gegii and Changing the Narrative of Indigenous Health

In this PHO Rounds, participants will learn about this measure, its purpose and potential in communities, and how all people in Ontario can benefit from learning about a novel Indigenous Measurement Based Care tool and its importance to supporting Indigenous youth health and well-being.
