This PHO Rounds will examine how a mobile, neighbourhood-based model of care is enhancing public health service delivery while grounded in a relational ethics framework. This approach, which utilizes a proactive 'push model' to engage individuals in their own communities and shared spaces, not only improves health outcomes but also advances health equity and aligns with core public health mandates. Through discussion of real-world strategies, measurable impacts, and key lessons learned, we will explore how mobile programming can prioritize access and inclusion in meaningful, sustainable ways.

Intended audience: Public health physicians and nurses, public health professionals with interest in service delivery and equity, community health workers.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

• Describe the core principles of the relational ethics framework.
• Identify the project’s key goals, outcomes and recommendations for public health practice.
• Discuss how mobile community engagement can be used to improve heath equity in public health.
• Reflect on partner collaboration opportunities and approaches that increase trust, remove barriers to public health services, improve health equity and improve social determinants of health for equity deserving communities.

Amber White, RN, BScN, is a Nurse Manager in the Infectious Disease division of Region of Waterloo Public Health with nearly two decades of experience in community health. Her work emphasizes accessible care, collaboration, and practical approaches to improving health equity.

Alana Bowering, MEd, CPHI(C), is a Health Promotion and Research Analyst with over 20 years of experience in public health, specializing in program planning and evaluation, knowledge exchange and research. She brings her academic and practical expertise to design data-driven, equity-centered public health interventions.

Kristen Jones, RN, BScN, is a dedicated and experienced Public Health Nurse who has spent over 15 years helping people and communities thrive across Waterloo Region. She’s deeply committed to health equity and believes everyone deserves fair access to care and support.
