PHO Rounds: Guidelines for Testing and Treating Long COVID
Post COVID-19 condition (PCC), or long COVID, is a complex and debilitating condition that continues to impact millions of Canadians. As research continues to emerge, there is an urgent need for evidence-based guidance to support health professionals, policymakers, and patients. To address this need, Cochrane Canada and the MacGRADE Centre—together with more than 90 researchers, health professionals, economists, and individuals with lived experience—have developed the Canadian Guidelines for Post COVID-19 Condition (CAN-PCC).
Join us for an engaging PHO Rounds featuring Dr. Kieran Quinn and Dr. Emilia Liana Falcone, co-chairs of the guideline teams covering the “Pharmacological and Non-Pharmacological Clinical Interventions” and “Testing, Identification and Diagnosis” recommendations for PCC.
Intended audience: Medical officers of health (MOHs), associate medical officers of health (AMOHs), family physicians, physicians across all areas of practice, nurses, public health staff, community health staff, researchers, laboratory staff, allied health professionals, and policymakers.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe the impact of Post COVID-19 Condition (PCC) and the methods used to develop the guidelines.
- Describe the recommendations for testing, identification, diagnosis, and clinical interventions for PCC.
- Discuss how the recommendations can be integrated into practice.
- Identify key resources for dissemination and strategies for implementing PCC recommendations.
