La violence est un comportement causant un tort par l’usage de la force. L’Organisation mondiale de la Santé (OMS) classe la violence en trois sous-types : la violence dirigée contre soi, la violence interpersonnelle et la violence collective. L’exposition à la violence peut avoir des conséquences durables sur la santé physique, mentale et affective. La violence a été associée à un risque accru de toxicomanie, de maladie mentale et de maladie chronique et infectieuse.
