Call for Members: Provincial Infectious Diseases Advisory Committee on Infection Prevention and Control (PIDAC-IPC)
About PIDAC-IPC
The Provincial Infectious Diseases Advisory Committee on Infection Prevention and Control (PIDAC-IPC) provides independent, specialized advice to Public Health Ontario (PHO). The committee develops best practice documents, recommendations and tools, and provides broad-based field advice. PIDAC-IPC plays an essential and specialized role as a source of expert advice and draws on the dedication of front-line health care practitioners with expertise in infectious diseases, infection prevention and control (IPAC), epidemiology, public health, and occupational health and safety.
PIDAC-IPC advises PHO on the prevention and control of health care-associated infections in Ontario, taking into account the following:
- The entire health care system, without limitation to institutional health care alone.
- Protection of both patients/residents/clients and health care workers.
- Exclusion of some non-health care community settings such as schools and daycare facilities.
PIDAC-IPC is currently seeking a Medical Microbiologist to fill the role of member.
Desired qualifications for the Medical Microbiologist:
- Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent in medical microbiology
- Minimum of five years of experience in a laboratory setting with knowledge of laboratory operations
- Involvement or experience in IPAC is considered an asset, but not a requirement
Requirements to become a member:
Candidates must be a resident of Ontario and meet the following requirements:
- A health care professional actively working in Ontario
- Able and willing to comply with PHO’s conflict of interest rules and confidentiality requirements
