Zika Virus
Zika virus is a viral infection transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, which also transmit dengue and chikungunya viruses. Zika virus can also be sexually transmitted. Most cases of Zika virus infection are asymptomatic or present with fever, rash and conjunctivitis. However, Zika infection in pregnancy can result in an array of congenital complications, including microcephaly, referred to as congenital Zika syndrome.
