Webinar: Interim IPAC Recommendations for the use of PPE When Caring for Individuals with Confirmed or Suspected COVID-19: LTC and Retirement Homes
This is a repeat of the December 20th, 2021 session.
The emergence and rapid spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant has contributed to Public Health Ontario’s (PHO) ongoing review of the evidence around the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for health care workers when caring for individuals with confirmed or suspected COVID-19. The presenters will discuss updated interim recommendations, as of December 15, 2021, contained in the recently posted Technical Brief and answer questions. This session will focus on recommendations for health care workers in long-term care and retirement homes. PHO will also be offering this webinar tailored for additional audiences including public health units and acute care settings. Registration for those sessions will be available on PHO’s website.
Intended audience: Long term care and retirement home staff who are primarily responsible for IPAC
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe the layers of protection that help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
- Discuss the use of PPE and other infection, prevention and control measures based on a personal risk assessment.
- Identify a process to make required changes within the care environment to mitigate risk.
- Understand interim recommendations for the use of PPE when caring for individuals with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 in long-term care and retirement homes
