Call for Members: Public Health Ethics Advisory Committee of Ontario (PHEACO)

About PHEACO
The Public Health Ethics Advisory Committee of Ontario (PHEACO) provides timely advice to Public Health Ontario on complex public health ethics issues to support decision-making, including responses to public health emergencies and outbreaks.

PHO is currently recruiting exceptional candidates to join the external advisory committee.

Membership is two years in length, and the Committee is expected to meet via videoconference two to four times a year.

Position Requirements:
Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • A professional designation (e.g., MD, RN, JD) with demonstrated experience in ethics or a graduate degree (e.g. Master’s or PhD) in bioethics, ethics or a related field.
  • Minimum eight years of relevant work experience.
  • Up to date with current and emerging ethical issues in public health.
  • Recognized as a credible expert in their field among peers.
  • Be able and willing to comply with PHO’s Conflict of Interest Rules and confidentiality requirements.

Areas of preferred expertise include:

  • bioethics or applied ethics
  • clinical ethics
  • research ethics
  • public health ethics
  • public health law
  • health equity and social justice
  • community health and marginalized populations
  • global health ethics
  • organizational ethics
