
Dr. Erin Hobin Awarded King Charles III Coronation Medal for Contributions to Public Health Research

Public Health Ontario (PHO) celebrates Dr. Erin Hobin, Senior Scientist, on being awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal in recognition of her significant contributions to public health research.

Dr. Hobin leads a research program focused on alcohol container labels, generating evidence to support clear, informed messaging about alcohol-related health risks. Her work has contributed to national and international policy discussions, including the first real-world evaluation of alcohol warning labels in Canada. She has been featured in The New York Times and is the senior author of a recent systematic review published in The Lancet Public Health, highlighting the effectiveness of alcohol labels in reducing consumption.
The Coronation Medal, created to mark the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, is awarded to individuals who have made a meaningful impact in their communities or achieved outstanding accomplishments that bring credit to Canada. Dr. Hobin received her medal at a ceremony in the Senate Chambers in Ottawa on June 9, 2025.
PHO congratulates Dr. Hobin on this well-deserved recognition and celebrates her contributions to advancing public health research.
Dr. Hobin hopes to provide Canadians with clear, evidence-informed messages about the health risks of alcohol – to better support people in making informed and safer alcohol decisions.
