Dental Practice and COVID-19
COVID-19 has identified the need for increased infection prevention and control (IPAC) measures that need to be taken in dental practices to keep staff and patients safe.
At PHO, we review evidence and develop best practices and tools to provide dental professionals with technical information to guide how they examine and evaluate current dental IPAC practices. This includes reviewing the risks of infection transmission during dental procedures, and the hierarchy of controls.
If you are an oral health care provider who is part of a regulated profession (e.g., dentist, dental hygienist, denturist) and have questions about the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 guidance directives for dental practices contact your regulatory college (e.g.,Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario, or College of Denturists of Ontario) to discuss your questions.
For other questions about infection prevention and control advice for your setting, please contact your local public health unit.
