Dental Practice and COVID-19

Infection prevention and control (IPAC) is always a priority in dental practices and COVID-19 has increased the measures that need to be taken. Use the checklists below to examine and evaluate current dental IPAC practices. The report offers insights into risks of infection transmission during dental procedures, and hierarchy of controls to reduce these risks.

If you are an oral health care provider who is part of a regulated profession (e.g., dentist, dental hygienist, denturist), contact your regulatory college, such as the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of OntarioCollege of Dental Hygienists of Ontario, or College of Denturists of Ontario to discuss your questions. Your local public health unit may also be able to provide advice on infection prevention and control precautions.



PHO Rounds: International Border Surveillance Study

Arriving international passengers at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport were enrolled in a prospective study of COVID-19 risk upon arrival and during quarantine in September and October 2020.
