Intended Audience: 
Public health professionals with interest in addictions and mental health, Medical Officers of Health (MOHs)/Associate Medical Officers of Health (AMOHs), public health decision makers.

By the end of this event, participants will be able to:

• Describe the current state of the nicotine market in Canada including how nicotine pouches are sold, marketed and regulated.
• Summarize the recent trends in nicotine pouch use in Canada, especially among young adults.
• Recognize emerging data on nicotine pouch health effects and potential usefulness for smoking cessation.

Dr. Michael Chaiton, PhD is a senior scientist at CAMH’s Institute for Mental Health Policy Research, director of research at the Ontario Tobacco Research Unit and associate professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and the Institute for Medical Sciences, at University of Toronto. 

Dr. Robert Schwartz, PhD is a senior scientist in the Institute for Mental Health Policy Research at CAMH and the executive director of the Ontario Tobacco Research Unit. 

Lynn Planinac, MHSc is a research coordinator at CAMH’s Institute for Mental Health Policy Research and received her MHSc from the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
